Vince DeRosa
Vincent DeRosa is, in my opinion, the finest horn player of all time; he is certainly the most recorded. I am thankful I got to work with him as much as I did. He also taught generations of horn players. My friend, Todd Miller, has written Carved in Stone: The LIfe and Musical Legacy of Vincent DeRosa, the Most Recorded Horn Player. I can't recommend it highly enough. It addresses his legendary career and his pedagogy. (BTW, "carved in stone" is an anagram of Vincent DeRosa.)
The USC Thornton School of Music has a lovely In Memoriam page. To celebrate Vince's 100th birthday, the British Horn Society published an article in The Horn Player magazine. For those who use Spotify, see the Vince DeRosa Playlist.
