In or around 1987, Don Waldrop, Jeff Reynolds, and Sonny Ausman hatched the idea that resulted in the "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" album. The idea had its genesis in Don’s annual Christmas party.
The trombones included Alan Kaplan, Alan Johnson, Bill Tole, Bob Payne, Bob Sanders, Bill Booth, Charlie Loper, Chauncey Welsch, Dick Nash, Don Waldrop, Ernie Carlson, Ira Nepus, Jeff Reynolds, Jim Sawyer, Mark Stevens, Morris Repass, Phil Teele, Randy Aldcroft, Roy Main, and Tommy Pederson. The rhythm section on a couple tunes was Bob Florence, Harvey Newmark, and Mark Stevens. Sonny Ausman was the recording engineer and Sydney Lehman helped out by conducting a tune.
I was very lucky to be included; it’s good to have friends!
The LP and CD are long out of print but can be found used online. More information can be found at allmusic.com and discogs.com.
Here's a couple YouTube samples: Dick Nash playing the solo on his arrangement of The Christmas Song and Bob Florence's arrangement of Winter Wonderland.
