MY OLD MINICK "FRANKENBONE"
MY OLD MINICK "FRANKENBONE"
I had Larry Minick build this horn for me in the mid-late '70s. My friend, Rich Bullock, bought it in 1979 and played it for a long time. Here he is playing the living daylights out of it!
It is an Elkhart Conn 62H bell section, open-wrapped, assembled stress-free, split-triggered, and annealed; with a soldered-bead, an added tuning-slide (this before I did away with them all together), a Bach 50B light-weight nickel-silver hand-slide – and – probably (it's been a very long time) a Burt Herrick leadpipe. Whew! (This might be it with me long ago in the Composers Brass Quintet.)
It's either a "Bonn" or a . . . well . . . (you figure it out). A GREAT horn! One of several "frankenbones" Larry made for me.
